Grow with the Food Garden Gang
Fresh ideas, good conversation, and support through the gardening year.
$195 CAD
Starr joined the Food Garden Gang during its first season, when it was hosted by Donna Balzer and me.
A New Gardening Topic Every Month
Each month, I give a live online presentation exploring a practical or slightly unexpected aspect of growing food at home.
Questions and Conversation
The Gang is deliberately small. You can ask questions, talk about what’s happening in your garden, and learn from other members’ experiences.
Help Between Gatherings
Think of a question afterwards? Members can email me for gardening help between our monthly meetings.
A Shared Gardening Year
We begin in October, move through the seasons together, and finish with our September Harvest Party.
A Friendly Community
This is a welcoming group of home food gardeners. Some are experienced. Others are finding their way. Nobody has to prove anything.
Personal Feedback on Your Garden Plan
Share your garden plan or a simple sketch with me, and I’ll offer practical suggestions to help you make the most of your space. We can discuss it during a monthly gathering, or I can respond by email.

Explore our growing library of previous Food Garden Gang talks and discussions whenever you’d like to dig further into a topic.

I'm Steven Biggs
The Gang is for home gardeners who enjoy growing vegetables, herbs, fruit, and other edible plants. Some members have years of experience. Others are fairly new to gardening. You don’t need a large garden—or an impressive one. Curiosity is more important.
Gardeners from outside Canada are very welcome.
The presentations often reflect Canadian and cold-climate growing conditions, but many ideas apply to home food gardens in many climates.
We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
The Gang year runs from October through September.
Usually about 90 minutes. I stay until we’ve covered everyone’s questions.
We meet live on Zoom.
The gatherings are structured but informal, with lots of pictures, practical information, questions, and discussion.
No. You’re welcome to join the conversation, but you can also leave your camera off if you’ve had a long day and just want to listen.
The gatherings are recorded, so you can watch afterwards.
Yes. Members can email me with gardening questions throughout the Gang year.
Registration opens once annually for the October-to-September Gang year.
Everyone begins and finishes the season together. If registration is currently closed, join the waitlist and I’ll let you know when the next Gang opens.
You’ll have access to the monthly recordings and the archive of earlier Gang talks throughout your membership, until September 30, 2027.
Canadian dollars.
Many online businesses charge in US dollars. I don’t like paying in US dollars when I’m shopping in Canada, so I charge in Canadian dollars.
Attend the first gathering. If you decide afterwards that it isn’t for you, let me know and I’ll give you a full refund. No questions asked.
