“I bought a season ticket this year because I am a gardener that wonders if I am doing things right throughout the gardening process. This was the best decision I could have ever made. All of my doubts were answered and I was inspired continuously with such great coaching from Steve and Donna. Their knowledge and passion for gardening is wonderful to feel. They were so helpful in sharing such knowledge with me. I am excited to see what is next! Thank you! ”

Hey there!

I'm Steven Biggs

I host of these events. I'm a horticulturist, college instructor, and an award-winning broadcaster and author. My articles have appeared in Canada’s Local Gardener, Mother Earth News, Fine Gardening, Garden Making, Country Guide, and other magazines.

I’m also an avid home gardener. Passionate about growing food. I’ve been teaching people to successfully grow food for the past two decades.

When I taught college gardening courses I scrapped the exams. Instead, I got students to take what we discussed during the course and use the ideas to create their own garden plans.

A garden plan is intimidating for many people. But it's a first step in taking action, in making a great garden. Far more powerful than memorizing. I heard again and again from my students that this way of learning gardening was the single most helpful thing they had done.

Seeing my students plan their own gardens—gardens with plants and designs they love, and making choices to suit their growing conditions—inspired these evenings with talks and Q+A.

Food Garden Gang members don’t have to make a plan. I won't put you on the spot. But if you do want to make a plan, we'd love to talk about it.

Risk Free

We're committed to your success.

We’ll give you a full refund after the first talk if you feel that it's not for you.

No questions asked.

FAQ

  • I already grow food. Is this for me?

We go beyond just growing crops. It’s also about the creative side of gardening…about designing a garden you love to be in. That touches your senses. That’s different from everyone else’s. We want you to reimagine your landscape.

  • What if I sign up and can't make one of the events?

The live events are recorded so that you can watch them afterwards.

  • When do the live online talks happen?

We meet on the second Thursday of each month, year-round.

  • How long are the talks and discussion?

Usually 1.5 hours. But I hang around until we’ve covered everyone’s questions.

  • How do I attend the online events?

    Zoom.

  • What’s the format of the talks?

The live online talks include lots of pictures to go with the ideas we talk about. They are structured, but informal. We discuss questions during and after the presentation.

  • Will I be able to ask questions?

Yes. There’s always time for questions…the more the better!

  • Can I subscribe any time?

You can sign up for a 12-month membership or a recurring monthly subscription any time.

You can cancel a monthly subscription any time.

  • What currency are your prices in?

    Canadian dollars.

(Even though many online businesses worldwide charge USD...we just don't like paying USD when shopping in Canada. That's why we charge C$.)
